Milk Production Falls In Every Territory for July and August
AUSTRALIA – Milk production figures from each dairy producing territory are down for the first two months of the 2013/14 season, meaning a 4.7 per cent contraction in national milk production.

Milk yield has reported contractions in both year to date and monthly figures.
This was mirrored by drops in processing output, meaning that Australia has seen a 4.1 per cent drop in year-to-date production, according to the latest Dairy Australia figures.
Reports show a total national output of 9,200.6 litres and drops of 9 per cent production in South Australia and 5 per cent in New South Wales.
July and August saw widespread contractions in milk output as most territories reported lower production. The exceptions were Western Australia and Tasmania which managed to have slightly higher yields than the year before.
The season production profile shows a steady increase, although is clearly lagging behind last year’s levels.
Processing was back in August for everything except Butter Milk Powder and Whole Milk Powder. All products were down on year to date figures except the same two and Butter.
Cheese production was down (-16 per cent), compounding July decrease (-12.8 per cent) and Whey powder has been 11 per cent lower this season.
Erratic drops have been recorded in Butteroil with 36.2 per cent less production in July six per cent lower production for August.
Skimmed Milk Powder production has been confirmed at 8 per cent down for the first two months.
