The milk purchase plan will target 25 billion pesos through the Colombian Family Welfare Institute, designed to strengthen the poorest families in the country and improve nutrition through dairy foods.

The Ministry of agriculture and development has assigned direct funding to dairy farmers in the form of the Rural Development with Equity (DRE) scheme.

The DRE allows cash flow adjusted payments to support production.

Furthermore, a Capitalisation Incentive (ICR) will be available allowing 40 per cent reduction of loans.

This will mean a farmer borrowing 10 million dollars only has 6 million to pay back.
