More FMD Reported in Tibet
CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported another outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Changdu, Tibet, affecting more cattle and sheep/goats.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 4 on 14 August 2013. Further presence of the FMD virus, serotype O, was confirmed on Tuesday, 13 August, when enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and reverse transcription - polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests were conducted at the Lanzhou Veterinary Research Institute, the OIE's reference laboratory.
According to the report, a total of 51 cattle were found susceptible to the FMD virus, out of which 14 cases were found. No animals were found dead and none of the susceptible or affected animals were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
Several measures have been put in place to contain the situation.
