Daily Dairy Trading: Cheeses Widen, Friday

US – Friday’s spot market trading saw cheese shipments gap wider amid active trading which saw a two cent gain in Extra Grade Non-fat dry milk.

Cheddar Blocks lifted half a cent after two trades to finish on $1.7975 as Barrels fell away 2.75 cents to $1.7650. This leaves Barrels near the previous week’s average of $1.7625 and Blocks over 1.5 cents higher than at the start of the month.

Butter fell to a lower price of $1.3975, down 0.5 cents. This concluded a week of losses leaving the spot price around 4 cents lower than at the start of the month.

August milk futures closed lower. Class III moved down 7 cents, at $18.09 and Class IV 13 cents at $19.22.

Cheese slipped a fraction to $1.7840.
