China Reports Further FMD Outbreak in Tibet
CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported a further outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the village of Rikaze located in Tibet, affecting more cattle populations.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follwo-up report no. 3 on Saturday, 20 July, confirming the presence of the FMD virus, serotype O.
According to the report, a total of 85 animals showed signs of susceptibility, and all animals were found to have been affected by the latest outbreak. While no deaths were recorded, all the affected animals were destroyed.
The OIE and the country's concerned authorities are still unable to determine the cause of the outbreak(s).
