OIE: Anthrax Outbreak Reported in Serbia
SERBIA - The Serbian veterinary authorities have reported an outbreak of Anthrax at a farm in Srbija.

The outbreak was initially observed on 2 July and confirmed on 5 July after an Ascoli test was conducted at the Veterinary Specialized Institute in Kraljevo. The causal agent was found to be Bacillus anthracis, and the manifestation of the disease was found to be a sub-clinical infestation. The entire country has been found to be at risk.
An immediate notification was sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on 15 July.
According to the report received, one animal was found susceptible and thereby, affected by the disease. The affected animal was reportedly found dead. No cattle have been destroyed as a result of the outbreak.
Cattle have been vaccinated in response to the outbreak. The OIE, in conjunction with the country's concerned authorities, have also disinfected infected premises/establishments.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
