Chinese Agrifood Prices Remain Steady
CHINA - Agricultural food prices taken from a sample 36 medium and large sized cities remained stable over the last week according to a survey from the Chinese Ministry of Commerce, MOFCOM.Last week, the retail prices of grain and cooking oil basically remained steady with a slight decline, among which, the prices of soybean oil and peanut oil fell by 0.2 per cent and 0.1 per cent respectively compared to the previous week.
The price of rape seeds oil, rice and wheat flour of small-package stayed the same.
The retail price of chicken and eggs fluctuated by a small margin.
The egg price fell by 0.3 per cent compared to the previous week and the price of chicken increased by 0.1 per cent.
The wholesale price of the meat increased slightly, with the price of the beef and pork rising by 0.5 per cent and 0.3 per cent respectively compared to the previous week and the price of mutton stayed the same.
The average wholesale prices of eight aquatic products increased by 0.8 per cent, of which, the prices of the large yellow croaker, silver carp and grass carp increased by four per cent, 1.3 per cent and 1.2 per cent respectively
The market supply of vegetables increased and the average wholesale price of the 18 vegetables fell by one per cent compared to the previous week, among which, balsam pears, onions, and eggplants declined substantially by 7.5 per cent, 7.5 per cent and 3.7 per cent respectively.
