Daily Dairy Trading: Barrels Overtake Blocks in Final Spot Prices

US – Wednesday's final spot trades saw Cheddar Barrels closed up 4.25 cents to $1.6850 overtaking Cheddar Blocks which closed on $1.6725 after lifting 1 cent.

This posts a 1.25 cents gap with Barrels over Blocks and means a weekly average up on prior week values which were at $1.6581 (Blocks) and $1.6463 (Barrels).

A further small gain was made after one sale was agreed 0.25 cents higher for Non-fat Dry Milk than the last trade moving the spot price to $1.7425.

Moderate gains were seen in the futures market. Class III July milk closed on $17.41, up 11 cents and July Cheese rounded up a cent to $1.7100.

July’s Whey futures rebounded from Monday’s losses closing on $0.5780.
