Another FMD Outbreak Reported in Russia
RUSSIA - The Russian veterinary authorities have reported a further outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the Kabardino-Balkar Republic (or Kabardino-Balkarskaya Respublika), wherein cattle and sheep have been affected.Follow-up report no. 3 was sent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE). According to the report, the latest outbreak occurred on 4 July in the buffer zone, near the state border.
A total of 2721 cattle showed signs of susceptibility, out of which 23 cases were reported. No deaths were recorded, and no animals were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak has still not yet been determined.
