The Association has welcomed the commitment the ministry has shown to fighting bovine tuberculosis, describing the range of measures planned for the eradication of bTB as ‘comprehensive’.

CLA President Harry Cotterell has rearticulated the Association’s worries regarding the ‘devastating’ effect tb has on rural businesses and has stated that working towards a solution to this problem is a complex process.

"We are pleased that the Government has now released this long overdue strategy which seeks to eradicate this terrible disease from livestock and wildlife in England,” said Mr Cotterell.

"It is vital that the Government now engages with landowners and farmers who are reliant on a healthy livestock sector."
