First Five Months Post Record Meat Exports for Paraguay
PARAGUAY – Record meat exports have registered for Paraguay over the first five months of 2013.So far, the amount of meat exported has increased by 55 per cent for the year, putting meat exports at 52 per cent higher in value to the economy than last year. In total, meat shipments have jumped to over 150,000 tons, worth over $570 million to the economy.
Positive growth was seen across the carcass. Prime cuts rose to 55,166 tonnes reaching a value of $87.117 to the economy.
Bovine offal shipments, to a total of 24 countries, lifted to 11,450 tons, bringing in $53,598 to the economy.
Russia was the biggest buyer and Hong Kong was second. Israel and Hong Kong were the third and fourth biggest destinations of Paraguay beef.
Pork shipments were also heavily bought by the Russian market. Compared to the same period in 2012, 2013 sales volumes are 336 per cent higher and worth 252 per cent more in value.
