Mizoram State Invests in Agriculture and Fisheries
INDIA - The annual plan for the year 2013-14 for the state of Mizoram has been finalised with attention given to the agriculture and fisheries sectors.The plan size has been agreed at Rs.2500 crore.
So far the state has preformed well with progress made in agriculture.
It was pointed-out that irrigation coverage of net sown areas is found to be very low, which needs to be accelerated. Bench terracing may be a viable alternative towards water management under agriculture enhancement strategy.
There is also a need to develop a Horticulture Hub in the State to revamp the sector.
The animal husbandry, veterinary, dairy and fisheries/aquaculture sectors may be promoted through self help groups.
