Ombudsman to Announce Conclusions on 'Fair' Milk Price
FRANCE – State figureheads are calling for a guaranteed price of 25 cents a litre for the second half of 2013.Production costs and market developments are the justifications of a farm gate price increase from both Prime Minister and Agricultural Minister.
They agree with demands from the National Federated Farmers Union (FNSEA) and the Young Farmer’s association who put forward a case to the Ombudsmen, Mr Amand, at the Dairy Round-table on April 8 2013.
A national consultation procedure into the milk markets has well and truly begun. The Farmers Union states that the mobilisation of producers in the form of trade actions and lobbying receives full support from the government.
Less than a week now remains for the conclusions of the Ombudsman to materialise. Main changes are an increase of payments for April which should move to €25 per 1000 litres, in line with government predictions.
The FNSEA has issued a reminder to the government that all livestock sectors are suffering amongst high input costs and difficult market dynamics.
