Senior animal health and veterinarian experts, Sergio Rivera, Gerardo D’Pool and Hengerbert Fuenmayor held talks to establish the benefits of the RB-51 vaccine.
Professor Rivera said that the vaccine can be used to prevent the disease with great economic possibilities due to the disease’s knock on effects on farm profitability and slaughter of infected animals because late abortion and fertility problems brucellosis causes.
The speakers stressed that vaccination guidelines detail that best practice is to treat female cattle between 3-8 months and then re-vaccinate when they are 10-15 months.
