About to arrive on the dairy processing scene, Woolworths are set to be granted permission to buy milk from seven farmers on the mid-north coast, ABC Rural reports.

ACC chairman, Rod Sims has said that he would support the trading in principle and stated that offering farmers more options is a good thing.

"If there's other avenues for dairy farmers to sell their product rather than just the processors, I think that's fine," he said.

"Obviously we have a collective bargaining application in front of us. We'll look at that seriously and with an open mind, but most collective bargaining applications get through because we think it's an effective way for people to work."
