LMC: Good Demand for Quality Liveweight Cattle
NORTHERN IRELAND - Quality cattle enjoyed strong trade last week with first quality steers fetching 217/kg liveweight, analysts at the Livestock and Meat Commission Northern Ireland.Finished first quality steers sold to an average of 217p/kg liveweight this week with second quality selling to an average of 195p/kg.
A similar trade for finished heifers saw first quality selling to an average of 216p/kg with second quality selling to an average of 196p/kg.
The strong trade for good quality store cattle has also continued across the marts with first quality bullocks up to 400kg selling to 210p/kg with bullocks in the 400-500kg weight range selling to a similar average price (211p/kg).
Meanwhile heifers up to 450kg sold to a top price of 229p/kg with first quality selling to an average of 210p/kg and second quality selling to an average of 180p/kg.
