MLA: Tuesday Daily Livestock Summary
AUSTRALIA – Saleyards were active after a rain delay with trade and feeder steers dropping 3-4 cents and heavier steers showing lift of six cents on Tuesday, according to market analysts at Meat and Livestock Australia.

Numbers increased at Toowoomba and quality was mixed. Light weight yearling steers to restockers lifted 13¢ to average 191¢, while light weight yearling heifers to slaughter were 10¢ higher on 167¢/kg. Bullocks to slaughter were 2¢ dearer on 189¢, while heavy weight cows to processors were 7¢ higher on 154¢/kg.
Yardings lifted at Tamworth and restocker and feeder buyers were active after the rain. Mediumweight vealer steers averaged 195¢, while light weight yearling steers to restockers sold from 179¢ to 189¢/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed settled on 170¢/kg. Medium weight grown steers to feeder buyers averaged 162¢, while medium weight cows to slaughter sold to a top of 139¢/kg.
Numbers lifted considerably at Wagga and there were increased numbers of secondary lines suitable for restockers and feeder buyers. Medium weight vealer steers to restockers averaged 189¢, while heavy weight yearling steers to feeder buyers sold 18¢ higher on 175¢/kg. Medium weight yearling heifers to feed were 20¢ dearer on 161¢, while heavy weight yearling heifers lifted 17¢ to 158¢/kg. Heavy weight grown steers to slaughter increased 17¢ to 170¢, while heavy weight cows to processors lifted 17¢ to 130¢/kg.
Market Conclusions
At the close of Monday’s markets the Eastern Young Cattle Indicator was on 327.50¢/kg cwt. Trade steers decreased 4¢ to 182¢, while feeder steers lost 3¢ to 175¢/kg lwt. Medium steers lifted 1¢ to 151¢, while heavy steers gained 6¢ to 169¢/kg lwt. Medium cows were 2¢ lower on 125¢/kg lwt.
