Cattle Offloaded as Dry Season Continues
AUSTRALIA - Lack of rainfall has forced cattle grazers too offload stock, reports ABCRural. Stock agents have said low rainfall through 2012 means feed is scarce and is having a lowering effect on cattle prices.
The current predicament leaves the cattle industry in its worst situation for 18 months, South Australian cattle Agent, Bradley Maney told ABCRural.
"The seasons pretty ordinary actually. We struggled to really get a summer rain in early to mid-November and summer rain probably wouldn't do a lot of good now, it's really bone dry.
"A lot of people are looking to offload their stock because they just don't have the feed coming off a pretty average sort of a spring,” added Mr Maney.
