China Reports More FMD Cases

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported another outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Sichuan.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up Report No. 7 on 8 January 2013. The affected population comprises pigs.

According to the report, a total of 124 pigs were found susceptible, out of which 30 cases were found. All 124 animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreaks remain inconclusive.

The OIE and the country's veterinary authorities have applied several measures to curb the situation.
