Confederation Announces Agriculture Sector Downturn Fears
ITALY - The General Confederation of Italian Agriculture (GCIA) has warned that unless the farming sector receives appropriate measures it will continue to shrink alongside the general economy.

"Economic decline in the last two quarters signals the agricultural sector is in distress," said the GCIA.
The GCIA has commented on the GDP estimates released today which predict down turn in both the agricultural and services sector.
"Agriculture has the potential to improve and it showed," said GCIA.
"but we need adequate measures aimed at increasing competitiveness in a global market that answers concerns about rising energy production costs"
The economy can not grow unless 'burdensome and restricitve' measures are lifted, the Confederation warned.
