The National Director of SAG, Hannibal Ariztía, noted that the SAG is working to control and eradicate bovine tuberculosis in the country through the joint work between the public and private sectors.

Therefore, the request of farmers in the province of Arauco to be incorporated in the eradication zone is valued.

To this he added that the eradication of bovine tuberculosis is a challenge for the whole country, whose purpose is to improve the competitiveness of the domestic livestock sector, exporting safe and healthy products to various international markets.

With this new ranking, the SAG apply quarantine measures to the infected premises and carry out checks.

In this regard the Regional Director of SAG Biobío, Leonidas Valdivieso, recalled that a definite plan divided the country into two epidemiological zones, a control area, ranging from the regions of Arica and Parinacota to the provinces, and Concepción Bío Bío Region, and an eradication zone, from the province of Arauco and the Region of La Araucania south.

Movement of animals is only allowed from farms that are certified by the SAG as free from bovine tuberculosis, those who are destined for slaughter or Animal Slaughtering Centers (CFA) which have veterinary inspection of SAG and animals under 12 months, who meet the requirements established by the Service.
