Retailers, Processors Abuse Spanish Dairy Producers
SPAIN - The Small Farmers Union (UPA) has accused retailers and processors of abusing their power over dairy farmers, as farm gate milk prices fell further.

UPA says that Spanish milk prices are one of the lowest in the EU, at &euro0.39095 per litre. The union has warned of the critical situation facing the industry as prices continue to fall and cost of production increases.
"For the first time in history the price of feed has surpassed the price paid to producers for milk."
UPA describes the situation as economically unbearable for Spanish farmers, and urges processors and retailers to reconsider the prices paid for milk.
