South Africa Reports FMD Outbreak in Mpumalanga
SOUTH AFRICA - The South African veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Mpumalanga, affecting cattle at a diptank adjacent to the Kruger National Park.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received Follow-up Report No. 2 yesterday, 25 April.
Out of 1001 susceptible animals, six cases were identified. No deaths were reported, and no animals were destroyed.
Contact with wild animal species has been identified as the main source causing the outbreaks.
The outbreak is within the protection zone of South Africa's FMD control zone. Cattle in this zone are vaccinated against FMD.
Vaccination for FMD is prohibited in the rest of South Africa.
