New Food Classics and its associated companies are now in liquidation.

Earlier this month, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) began to recall ground beef products from produced New Food Classics Establishment 761 produced between July 1, 2011 and February 15, 2012, after fears that they may be contaminated with E. coli O157:H7.

New Food Classics plants in Saskatoon and St Catherines, Ontario are no longer operational, according to CFIA.

To date there is only one reported illness linked to the frozen burgers.

The CFIA continues to investigate the underlying issues that may have contributed to positive E. coli results in certain ground beef products that were produced by New Food Classics at Establishment 761.
