Experts Participate in FMD Conference in India

INDIA - A delegation of experts including D.V. Mikhalishin, Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine), and A.V. Borisov, Candidate of Science (Veterinary Medicine), of the FGBI "Federal Centre for Animal Health" subordinated to the Rosselkhoznadzor participated the Annual International Conference on Scientific Developments and Technical Challenges in the Progressive Control of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in South Asia held in February, 2012.

The Conference was jointly organized by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, Department of Animal Husbandry Dairying & Fisheries, Food and Agricultural Organization.

In 2012, the Conference was held in New Delhi (India) with the participation of leading FMD experts of the Asian Region. Also, representatives of the World Animal Health Organization (OIE), delegates of Regional Reference Laboratories for Europe, South-Eastern Asia and North America addressed to the participants.

The Conference was mainly aimed at discussion of innovations in FMD epidemiology and diagnosis, FMD vaccine manufacturing, development of vaccine prevention programmes for susceptible animal populations. The following was also discussed: efficacy and quality of new FMD vaccines as well as role and impact of Reference Laboratories in FMD diagnosis.
