Mexico Sends Third Shipment of Cattle to Turkey

MEXICO and TURKEY - The third shipment of 4,409 cattle has been sent port of Tampico, Tamaulipas, Turkey, for slaughter or fattening, reported National Health Service, Food Safety and Food Quality (SENASICA).

SAGARPA stated that the shipment was composed of Charolais, beef master, Angus, Limousin, and Simbra cattle

Additionally, 239 tons in bags of feed for cattle, 70 tons of pasture in bales and 20 tons of sawdust were also on board for the up keep of the cattle.

It is noteworthy that this is the first time that cattle have been exported through the port of Altamira, Tamaulipas and are estimated to arrive in Turkey on 12 March.

SENASICA recalled that livestock exports to Turkey began on October 6, from then to date three shipments totaling more than 27,000 Mexican-born calves have been sent.

SAGARPA stressed that this is the result of collaboration between producers and state governments, who made an effort to meet the health requirements of the international market.

The agency emphasied that those producers interested in exporting cattle to Turkey can consult the relevant requirements in SENASICA website under "consultation requirements for export."
