In December, the number of live cattle imports was reduced to 280,000 from 520,000 and the boxed beef quota was also cut.

The Australian cattle industry is expecting consumers in Indonesia will react angrily to a price hike in beef.

Achmad Ya'kub, from the Peasant Farmers Association told AB Rural that they'll keep up pressure on the Indonesian Government to restrict cattle imports.
