EBLEX’s new Meat and Livestock UK Yearbook 2011 revealed the volume of UK exports of fresh/frozen beef and veal from the UK leapt from 83,400 tonnes in 2009 to 109,300 tonnes in 2010.

The value to the industry increased from £257.7m in 2009 to £330.9m in 2010, up 28.4 per cent, latest figures for the year from HMRC show.

The value of sheep meat exports rose slightly by 0.9 per cent, from £316.2m in 2009 to £319m in 2010, despite a seven per cent fall in volume, from 96,100 tonnes in 2009 to 88,700 tonnes in 2010, which was driven by lower domestic production.

The Meat and Livestock UK Yearbook 2011, from AHDB Market Intelligence and sponsored by EBLEX, is packed with 132 pages of industry facts and figures covering imports, exports, slaughtering, production and prices.

EBLEX sector director Nick Allen said: “The yearbook provides comprehensive data across livestock sectors as well as details of how the Common Agricultural Policy currently applies to the UK.”

The Meat and Livestock UK Yearbook 2011 is now available free to EBLEX levy payers, £40 for UK customers and £50 for overseas customers.
