Israel Reports Two New FMD Outbreaks

ISRAEL - The Israeli veterinary authorities have reported two news outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Hazafon.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no.5 yesterday, 7 July. According to the report, the affected population consists of cattle.

A total of 900 animals were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 40 cases were identified. No deaths were recorded, and no animals were destroyed.

While the source of the outbreak has not yet been confirmed, the illegal movement of animals has been identified as the most probable cause of the outbreak.

According to the report, most of the affected herds were vaccinated within the last year.

Most of the outbreaks have been typed and found as due to type O.
