Israel Reports More FMD Outbreaks
ISRAEL - The Israeli veterinary authorities have reported four new outbreaks of foot and mouth disease in cattle, sheep and goats.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 3 yesterday, 14 June. According to the report, the outbreaks occured in Hazafon and in Hadarom.
A total of 920 cattle were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 100 cases were identified. No deaths were recorded, and no animals were destroyed.
The affected herds were vaccinated last year, the OIE reports.
Eight of the outbreaks have been typed and found as type O.
According to the report, the herds which have not been typed yet are Majdal Shams and Rahat.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
