Mr Wade Bell, DairyNZ Regional Leader for South Waikato, says the event has been developed specifically for Waikato farmers.

“The topics for the day have been put together by our teams on the ground in the Waikato and every session is relevant to our region’s dairy farmers”, he explains.

The Waikato DairyNZ Face-to-Face event is a great opportunity for dairy farmers to see how their levy is invested and learn about industry research and development work relevant to Waikato farming issues.

“There’s a lot of work going on within DairyNZ in areas such as new feeds, how to use crops and supplements cost-effectively, optimum stocking rates and much more. The scientists at the coal face of the latest research in these areas will be there on the day to share how their findings can be implemented on farms now”, Mr Wade commented.

The workshop format allows attendees to design their own programme based on topics that are personally relevant and interesting. The event will include time for informal discussion with DairyNZ scientists and developers who are leading the sessions.

Free health checks are being offered by the NZ Institute of Rural Health throughout the day as farmers often pay more attention to the health of their animals than themselves. Farmers will be able to take advantage of free blood pressure, cholesterol and glucose checks and chat to a health professional about healthy living and eating.

Waikato farmers wishing to attend the DairyNZ Face-to-Face event can register online at www.dairynz.co.nz/facetofaceevents.

Registration is free to levy-paying farmers and their staff - there is a NZ $50 charge for all others. Registration prior to the event is essential. The event kicks off at 9:30am with morning tea at Mystery Creek Events Centre. Lunch is provided.
