The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) cites interstate commerce for its authority to target farmers who produce fresh milk for willing customers.

Because of the obvious need to clarify this misinterpretation, Congressman Ron Paul has just introduced legislation, HR 1830, making it legal for people to distribute fresh milk across state lines.

“This legislation removes an unconstitutional restraint on farmers who wish to sell or otherwise distribute, and people who wish to consume, unpasteuriSed milk and milk products,” says Dr Paul in his statement. “Americans have the right to consume these products without having the federal government second-guess their judgment about what products best promote health.”

Grassfed on the Hill, a DC area private buying group and target of the recent FDA sting on purchasing raw milk, has organized the Capitol Hill rally where they plan to milk an actual cow and drink the fresh milk. The rally, planned for 10:00 am May 16th at Upper Senate Park in DC, is expected to draw hundreds of raw milk supporters and other food freedom advocates from around the country.

Larry Fisher plans to bicycle from his home in Churchville, Virginia to the rally stopping to drink fresh milk along the way.
