JBS Signs Sustainability Agreement with Acre
BRAZIL - Brazilian beef processing giant JBS SA has signed an agreement with the authorities in the Brazilian State of Acre, as well as with other Government Authorities from various Brazilian States ending to the civil action against JBS and stopping any possibility of a fine.For JBS, this agreement, which is says covers the whole of Brazil, spells out its ongoing and sustainable practices in the Amazon Region and reaffirms its commitment to transparency and social and environmental development.
This agreement is aligned with JBS' principles and with its shareholders, including the BNDES (Brazilian Social and Development Bank) with whom the company already has an ongoing agreement to implement innovative environmental practices throughout the meat supply chain, resulting in a more sustainable sector.
This agreement with these Government Authorities reinforces the work being done by JBS with cattle ranchers.
The company has enhanced the partnership with Embrapa (the renowned Brazilian Agriculture Research Institute) to promote Good Agricultural Practices (BPA) with cattle ranchers in all regions.
The Public Authorities praised JBS’s initiative and hopes other companies will follow this progressiveness.
