New Outbreak of FMD in Bulgaria's Burgas Region

BULGARIA - A new outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) in cattle and sheep has been reported in the Burgas region, which is in the east of the country and borders the Black Sea.

The authority sent Follow Up Report No. 2 dated 17 January to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

The report describes one outbreak of the disease in a village cattle herd and sheep flock in Rezovo in the Burgas region. On 17 January, three of the cattle showed symptoms. All the cattle (92) and sheep (77) have been destroyed.
