EuroTier

The programme for the cattle sector at EuroTier 2010 is larger than ever before. All the world’s market leaders in the milking and refrigeration segments will be there. Cattle breeding also plays a major role with the leading national and international cattle breeding organisations.

By comparison with previous years, moreover, stand bookings display encouraging growth in the exhibition sectors of feedstuffs, animal health and veterinary medicine, as well as for all other inputs.

“TopTierTreff” – Top cattle genetics for breeding in focus

Among the key requisites for future-oriented dairy cattle husbandry are robust cows with a long service life. That is why cattle genetics is regaining importance.

This year again, EuroTier will offer a unique overview of top genetics in European cattle breeding. Some 50 leading German and international breeding organisations and companies will be presenting daughter animals from leading sires at the “TopTierTreff – top animal genetics” show in Hall 27.

The “TopTierTreff - top animal genetics” show will thus once again be among the magnetic attractions for cattle farmers from home and abroad.

Presentations in German and at certain times of day in English and Russian too will take place daily. The best daughter animals of all dairy and beef races will be shown.

“Dairy cow fertility”

For international cattle farmers, dairy cow fertility is the pivot and a crucial foundation for successful milk production. Alongside udder and hoof diseases, fertility problems are the most significant cause of failures in dairy cattle. Optimised fertility management is an extremely important factor affecting farm profitability.

Around the time of calving, about 50 days before and after, dairy cows have to master enormous challenges connected in particular with extreme conversion phases and physiological stress.

Together with Faculties of Veterinary Medicine, consultancy organisations and exhibitors at EuroTier, the DLG is preparing a concentrated seminar on this topic in Hall 13 that will offer approaches and solutions for optimising dairy cattle fertility.

EuroTier 2010 will be held at the Exhibition Grounds in Hanover from 16 to 19 November 2010.
