DAIRY EVENT: First Dairy Cows Arrive at NEC
UK - The first ever cows arrived to The NEC, Birmingham this week ahead of judging at the Dairy Event and Livestock Show today (Tuesday 7 September), the first of the two day event at its new venue.

First down the tail gate at 9.00am was an entry from the Saxby family’s Saxown Jersey herd based at Skipton, North Yorkshire. Herdsman, Frank Poskitt said: “There was a little trepidation over what we would find on arrival at the new site but having looked round Fullwood’s milking facility and the wash down area, our first impression is this is a good set up with great facilities for the cows.”
Over 220 more cattle entries have travelled to The NEC and settling in to the Livestock Hall, a single span expanse covering over two acres. The hall is not only housing the dairy cattle entered for the competitive classes, but also beef, sheep, goats and native breeds.
Event organisers, the Royal Association of British Dairy Farmers have organised facilities for clipping and wash down, as well as the bespoke milking parlour.
