Dairy Event: Farm Health Planning
UK - Farm Health Planning is returning to the Dairy Event and Livestock Show, the UK’s largest specialist event with over 450 exhibitors in total to be staged at its new venue, The NEC, Birmingham on Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 September. The exhibition will feature a series of presentations provided by some of the UK’s leading specialist vets and advisors on proactive herd and flock measures. Key issues coming under the microscope are mobility, infectious disease control, anthelmintic resistance, fertility, young stock rearing and bio-security.
The Farmer Health Planning seminars will be staged in an open discussion area with visitor seating, enclosed by glass panels and located in the Animal Health Zone. Speakers will provide three take home messages with each presentation and visitors will be encouraged to participate in the sessions using voting keypads.
“Farm Health Planning needs to be an integral aspect of the farms business plan as is feeding or breeding and getting it wrong can cost the business dearly,” explains FHP co-ordinator, Brian Lindsay. “Farm Health Plans need to be specific to each unit’s unique situation. That is why these plans are a vital component of the farm’s forward looking strategy to ensure they are implemented and amended as required.
“This year’s seminars are an exciting collection of new and innovative approaches to support the development of each farmer’s Farm Health Plan, and each is complemented by effective and simple take home messages that could be implemented the next day.”
Corporate sponsor, Tesco’s Emma Rutter adds: “We are very proud to once again sponsor the FHP initiative. This initiative fits well with the practical work we are doing with the members of our dedicated supply chain.”
