China Reports a New Outbreak of FMD

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have sent a report to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), stating that a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD) has occured.

According to the report, the outbreak occured in Shigatse, Tibet.

The outbreak started on 17 May in swine. Twelve animals were reported to have been infected while 701 were found susceptible. All susceptible animals were culled.

The cause of the outbreak remains unidentified.
