Provision of Food Chain Information is now a requirement for cattle under the EU Food Hygiene Regulations (Regulation (EC) 853/2004). Operators of slaughterhouses must request, receive, check and act upon Food Chain Information in respect of each animal or lot of animals sent or intended to be sent to the slaughterhouse.

The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food wishes to advise all cattle producers and dealers that it has published a Food Chain Information form for cattle on its website at Use of this form is an acceptable means of complying with the regulations in respect of each bovine animal or lot of animals sent for slaughter from 17th May 2010. Copies of the form will also be available from slaughterhouses and at marts.
