Export Works Expected To Close Early

AUSTRALIA - With the hot, dry conditions continuing to flush cattle from New South Wales (NSW) and Queensland, a high Australian dollar and low export demand, export works may close early this year. Any widespread rains in Queensland and NSW could spark closures in early-to-mid December, as turnoff falls.

While rains are forecast for December, producers are likely to await their arrival before holding back stock, given the disappointing falls from recent promising northern weather systems.

With higher NSW supplies and lower processor and restocker interest, national indicator prices declined across all cattle categories this week. This was led by falls in NSW and Queensland. In contrast, follow-up rains in Victoria and South Australia (SA) saw a sharp recovery in prices in those states.
