AUSTRALIA - Farmers on Tasmania's Flinders Island have finally moved stock off the island to get to cattle markets in Victoria and Tasmania.

For more than a week, cattle were stranded on the island by a shipping dispute reports ABC Rural.

The crew on the Tasmanian-contracted Matthew Flinders, which also services King Island, went on strike because they hadn't been paid.

While the Matthew Flinders remains docked at Flinders Island, livestock agent Darren Grace says a temporary ferry moved cattle over the weekend.

"We're very lucky that we've got a very good season at the moment, that's not putting too much pressure on those producers," he says.

"But certainly coming up in the next month and certainly through December and the summer months, that's going to be our peak season," said Mr Grace.
