The week-long 'Rural Awareness Tour', hosted by the Cattle Council, is exploring the red meat supply chain throughout New South Wales with the aim of ensuring those implementing government policy affecting beef producers leave with an appreciation of how issues are managed on the ground.

Cattle Council president, Greg Brown told the North Queensland Register that officials participating in the tour have had an opportunity to see first-hand how complex farm and food production systems are, and how government policy impacts the production environment.

Now in its 18th year, the Rural Awareness Tour has taken more than 155 Canberra-based government officials to properties, saleyards and beef production facilities across Australia.
