Mr Raymond is taking part in a special meeting which will look at issues surrounding UK food security with Julian Hunt, the Food and Drink Federation’s director of communications, and Tim Farron MP, the Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Defra. The meeting will be chaired by Lembit Opik MP.

Mr Raymond said: “It is vital that any incoming Government puts productive agriculture at the heart of its political agenda and helps the industry to meet the challenges it faces in terms of producing more food while impacting less on the environment.

“Taking part in this meeting will give me the opportunity to show why farming matters more than ever in terms of food security on a global, as well as a national level and highlight the work already being done across the industry to tackle the challenges we face.”
