DAIRY EVENT - New Product to Replace Soya In Feed Rations
UK - A new extracted rapeseed meal, RapePlus which has undergone a treatment to protect and enhance its nutritive value could partially replace soya in feed rations. The EU have a policy of zero tolerance regarding genetically modified (GM) crops. Non GM products such as soya which provide high quality by pass protein (DUP) resulting in high yielding cows can cost 20-30 per cent more than GM products.
The new product which has been introduced by BOCM Pauls, has high protein levels as well as providing adequate DUP content, allowing it to replace standard rape and partially replace soya in feed rations whilst promoting high levels of milk production and supporting milk quality in a cost effective, palatable system.
RapePlus protects the protein from rumen degradation and results in a product with an 80 per cent increase in DUP content.
