EU to Allow Sale of T-Bone Steaks as BSE Threat Eases
EU - The European Union may allow the sale of T-bone steaks from adult cattle for the first time in four years after judging the risk from mad-cow disease has declined. The EU outlawed the meat cuts, containing a segment of vertebral column, in 2001 because the bone was judged to increase the risk of consumers catching a fatal human form of the cattle illness. Stricter controls on feeding and slaughtering animals have now reduced that threat to an acceptable level, the European Commission said today in Brussels.Source: bloomberg.com
