US Senators Ask Trade Rep To Retaliate For Japan 's Beef Ban

US - In a show of frustration and anger, 20 U.S. senators on Thursday formally asked U.S. Trade Representative Rob Portman "to employ retaliatory economic measures against Japan." U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts, R-Kan., and 19 others who signed a letter, lamented "the continued impasse in negotiations with Japan regarding the resumption of United States beef exports to that nation" and charged that Japan "is simply using this issue to maintain an unwarranted and unjustified trade barrier."
