The Institute of Animal Health (IAH) and Merial Animal Health, both based at Pirbright, Surrey did not admit liability but settled the claims from seven farmers who had livestock culled in the outbreak.

The High Court hearing that got under way on Monday this week was raised by 14 farmers, backed by the NFU, who were seeking £1.5m in damages.
