Dairy Farmers Boost Demand for Hay

AUSTRALIA - Dairy farmers in Australia could be coming to the rescue of grain growers.

According to a report on ABC, the grain growers' concern over a failed crop copuld be saved by the demand from dairy farmers for hay.

The report says it ahs been another big year for hay production in western Victoria, as many crops were cut for hay, but demand is staying strong.

Hay grower and contractor Max Hood told ABC that dairy farmers in dry areas are a new source of customers.

"There was a power of hay around last year, and we were wondering where the market was going to be be and where it would find a home," he said.

"But dairy farmers have had to buy in all of their supply.
