Beef and Live Exports Take a Hit
IRELAND - The recent crisis caused by dioxin contamination of feed on pig and cattle farms has hit Ireland's export trade.

Last year Ireland exported 207,000 head of live cattle, but according to a report on NEWSPAPERFarming UK, these exports have dried up in the last two weeks.
The report says that importing countries have introduce new testing measures and Italian importers have sent back carcase meat because supermarkets are refusing to stock it.
This year live shipments of cattle are reported to be down to 131,000 cattle and Farming UK says that although the dioxin contamination is not solely to blame, it has played a considerable part.
