Ranchers have beef with Japan

US - Colorado beef producers don’t want to buy Japan’s if Japan won’t buy ours. That’s why an association of beef ranchers is furious the U.S. Department of Agriculture has proposed to lift its four-year ban on Japanese beef cattle before Japan has lifted its ban on the U.S. beef. “It’d be naive on the part of the U.S. to think that Japan will then open the doors to our product,” said Terry Fankhauser, a spokesman for the Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.
